Devil's Lake State Park One of Wisconsin's treasures, and best scenic trails. Deep in the country west of Madison in Baraboo, a small lake sits surrounded by purple quartziite mountain bluffs as it harbors some of the most adventurous trails of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Hiking here is just amazing! There are many loops and Spur trails that take you in and around Devils Lake. The Sauk point trail is 7 mile loop at 1k ft climb around the bluffs and by Devils Door. Devil's Door is an impressive feature, consisting of huge granite and quartzite with an opening walk way overlooking the lake. West and east Bluff trails loop around the lake at 3_4 mils near 800 ft up and around. The Ice Age Trail comes in from the North to Palfrey Glen, and to the south at Moon Valley. Both accesses are difficult trekking and is rated for experienced hikers.
