Buffalo Bill Trail

Buffalo Bill Trail West of Denver, in Golden there is an overlook that is about 1000 ft at Lookout Mountain Nature and Preserve. The Buffalo Bill trail celebrates the site he was buried and traveled to when he was alive. The trail was a bit rough, rocky and steep at times, as it is rated difficult. I got 5 miles into it before I was informed someone had fallen from a cliff and couldn't pass.  The elevation is about 2300ft in 6.5 miles to Baker, and I found it hard to adapt.  The scenery was beautiful especially around the eastern face overlooking the pine Valley. HimeFree Lifestyle Let's begin with the most important things...  Disposable Income. How much does it cost to live "HomeFree"? Surprising enough two can do it under $1000 a month. Thats gas, food, water, ice, camping. We have traveled over 15, 000 miles  in one year  and managed to eat very well, and have seen more than 14 national parks, trekking over 500 miles and still the same weight, healthy and beautiful!  If you can work on the road via internet or have a disability and collect benefits, you can easily facilitate a plan.  Some things to consider, where your doing all this. Camping & hiking are America's favorite past times and going off grid seems to be growing. As we continue to update this discussion @ Roving Nomad HomeFree and in the other Groups on this page, we will share what we have found to be beneficial.  Basics: Get a big enough ride to carry at least a week of provisions, with good all season tires ( most free sites are off road)....

Devil's Lake State Park

Devil's Lake State Park One of Wisconsin's treasures, and best scenic trails. Deep in the country west of Madison in Baraboo, a small lake sits surrounded by purple quartziite mountain bluffs as it harbors some of the most adventurous trails of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. Hiking here is just amazing! There are many loops and Spur trails that take you in and around Devils Lake. The Sauk point trail is 7 mile loop at 1k ft climb around the bluffs and by Devils Door. Devil's Door is an impressive feature, consisting of huge granite and quartzite with an opening walk way overlooking the lake.  West and east Bluff trails loop around the lake at 3_4 mils near 800 ft up and around. The Ice Age Trail comes in from the North to Palfrey Glen, and to the south at Moon Valley. Both accesses are difficult trekking and is rated for experienced hikers. Ice Age Trail

Ice Age Trail The Ice Age Trail is one of our favorites. It's a 1200 mile National Scenic Trail in Wisconsin. The past two summers we have hiked 250 miles of the Rock County section, from Walworth, Jefferson, Dane,, Green to Sauk, around Devils Lake. The best portion is in Devils Lake State Park. The trail is generally dirt and a bit Rocky in most locations, with grassy Knolls and subtle wilderness. There are many areas where daiseys, black-eyed Susan's, Bee Balms, blue violets and hosts appear. It's a great trail to train on and the elevations are pretty moderate from 600ft up to 1200ft. The spring brings on a  great aroma of sweet flowers and May is the most comfortable month to hike. One of the best features is Devil's Staircase in Janesville.
